An old landmark at Port Howe has disappeared as Pauley Bros. opened their new modern store on
November 11. The old-fashioned store was built almost 85 years ago by Uriah JOHNSON and was
operated until 1919 by Roland SMITH, and until 1952 by Samuel WOOD and son Earl. Since 1953 it
has been operated by Pauley Bros.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl JOBE, Westchester sold their farm and woodland to Payson DOBSON and have moved
to Amherst.

2010. Born in Thomson, NS, son of the late Murray and Viola (Carter) Stevens. Survived by his
wife of 70 years, the former Vivian Brown; daughters Muriel Casey, Ruby Mason (Jerry Jamieson),
Judy MacKay; sister Vivian (Nelson); brothers Lloyd, Phillip (Josie), Melvin (Hilda), Percy
(Agnes) and Emmerson (Carla). Predeceased by his granddaughter Lesa; great-granddaughter
Melissa Lynn; sisters Bertha, Phyllis, Louise, and Jean; brothers Otis, Harvey and Cyrus. (Obit

Helen (Paul) Kwan, Elmsdale, PEI; sister-in-law Helen Forrest, New Glasgow. Predeceased by her
husband Charles Leslie Tattrie; sister Catherine Oressa Aucoin; brothers Howard and Roland

Frank and Mabel (Trueman) Bent. Survived by children Frank (Pat), Halifax; Paul (Liz), British
Columbia; daughter Debra (Alan) Wood, Sambro Head; brother, Dr. Wilfred Bent (Marjorie),
Halifax; sister Sara Gertrude Fogo, Halifax. Predeceased by husband Cleveland; twin brother
Frank in infancy.
