Ronald RUSHTON of River Philip recently received the Priority Vote of Thanks award for his years
of dedicated service with the St. John Ambulance Brigade #278, Amherst.

On Sunday, November 12, Mrs. Frances RUSHTON of Mt. Pleasant, celebrated her 85th birthday at
the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jack LEGERE, Williamsdale.

The congregation of All Souls Church, Oxford, held a party for Agnes Willis on November 16 to
celebrate her 91st birthday.

The Shady Rest home for special care in Oxford, hosted the first wedding of two of its residents
in at least 10 years. Bernie FLYNN and Shirley NIX were married November 22 by Justice of the
Peace Ether PIERCY.

Fire of unknown origin almost completely gutted the James St. home owned by David PATTERSON and
occupied by Dennis BOUDREAU, Angela MILLER and their two children early Thursday afternoon.

Wendy Hargreaves HUNTER's book Oxford - Recollections of a Small Town has been published and
goes on sale next week. She volunteered to author the book as a gift to the Oxford Bicentennial
Committee.

for a fourth term.

Ulric (Bud) KNOWLTON of Springhill, was elected president of the Oxford Curling Club.

Thomson, NS, son of the late Murray and Viola (Carter) Stevens. Survived by his wife of 70
years, the former Vivian Brown; daughters Muriel Casey, Ruby (Jerry Jamieson) Mason, Judy
MacKay; sister Vivian (Nelson); brothers Lloyd, Phillip (Josie), Melvin (Hilda), Percy (Agnes)
and Emmerson (Carla). Predeceased by his granddaughter Lesa; great-granddaughter Melissa Lynn;
sisters Bertha, Phyllis, Louise, and Jean; brothers Otis, Harvey and Cyrus.

LONG, Claire Venetta, 71 years, Springhill, Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Born in Springhill,
daughter of Olive (Grant) Hunter, Springhill, and the late John M. Hunter. Missed by her
