Obit: BROWNELL, Elmer MacGregor

Brownell, Elmer MacGregor -- 86, Truro Heights passed away January 4,
2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born September 7, 1924 in
Port Howe, he was a son of the late Jacob Horace and Emma (Hunter)
Brownell. He was a small contractor in Halifax, worked at Nova Scotia
Building Supplies and retired from Piercey Supplies in 1988. He was a
veteran in the Second World War and served in the army from 1943-1946 in
the 6th Anti-Tank as a gunner. He was a Scout Master at the 3rd
Rockingham Troop. He is survived his wife of 60 years, Eva (Tooty);
children, Logan (Sue), Lee Ann (Gary), Philip (Daniella), Nancy (John),
Kevin and Dale; sister, Rena (Jim); brother, Hugh (Marjorie);
sister-in-law, Doreen; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by
brothers, Andy and Albert; sister-in-law, Allie. Elmer thoroughly
enjoyed his retirement years at the cottage in Northport where he worked
in his garden and produced beautiful furniture for his grandchildren
from his workshop. Special thanks to Dr. R. Graham, the nurses in
4-South, the doctor on call, Earth Angel, Wanda, two special boys,
Cameron and Riley Fillmore. Visitation will be held on Wednesday,
January 5th from 6-8 pm beginning with a Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26
Tribute Service at 6:00 pm; funeral service on Thursday, January 6th at
3:00 pm, all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street,
Truro with Pastor Ken Fillmore officiating. Interment at a later date.
