Dave, here is the 1998 obituary for Vaughn N. DOWE - son of Orey DOWE & Sarah GOUGH.

DOWE, Vaughn N. (Duke) - 75, 80 John Black Rd., Amherst, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 1998, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Fox River, Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late Orey and Sara (Gough) Dowe. He was a member of Christ Church, Amherst. As a young man, he worked in the lumber camps, rolling mill and Brookfield Creamery. In later years, he owned his own contracting business, having retired a number of years ago. He was also the caretaker of the Amherst Stadium for a number of years. His many friends will remember him for his numerous acts of kindness and generosity. He had a heart a gold. In the past, he was a very active member of Amherst Minor Hockey Association, where he offered both his time and support to many youngsters over the years. As well, he supported the early formation of the Amherst Junior Ramblers. He was a devoted husband, loving father and cherished grandfather who enjoyed having his family around.
He enjoyed listening to country and bluegrass music, especially when his grandson, Tony, was singing. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruby Tower; daughters, Gloria and husband Val Robichaud and Nancy and husband Robert Harrison, all of Amherst; son, Ricky and wife Colleen, Amherst; grandchildren, Tony Robichaud and wife Leisa, Trudy Robichaud, Jordan Dowe and Sara Dowe, all of Amherst; great-grandson, Ryan Robichaud, Amherst; sister, Alberta (Girlie) Wilson, Amherst; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Jean, Enid Johnson, Matilda (Tillie) Johnson and Phebe Sears; brothers, Judson, Albert, Emmerson, Lester and Horace. His remains are resting at Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst, with visiting hours today from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in Christ Church, Amherst, Friday at 11 a.m., Rev. David S. Myles officiating. Burial will be in Amherst Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made
to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice.
