Re: Harold William Brown of Parrsboro

David:

I¹m assuming Mary A. Dow died sometime before 1901 and as widower, Clarence
LeBert ³Burton² Brown m/2 Harriet Maria ³Hattie² Spence (1884-1948) on 3 Feb
1901 at Lakelands.

Cumberland Marriage Index:
BROWN BURTON 35 W PARRSBORO CAANAN WILLIAM MATILDA
3 Feb 1902 Cumberland County, N.S.
SPENCE HATTIE 18 S LAKELAND LAKELNAD JOHN CASSIE 625

That¹s why Harold was possibly living with his maternal grandparents.

Harold William and Elizabeth Pricilla¹s half-siblings and step-mother:

Automated Genealogy Version;
1911 Cumberland County Census, Parrsboro Centre family #26, BROWN:

13   26 Brown Laura   F Daughter S Jun 1906 4 1901
14   26 Brown Bertha Levenia   F Daughter S May 1909 2 1901

Here¹s Harold¹s father and sister, Elizabeth Pricilla Brown boarding with
Erie Welton in 1901. Berton just got married on 3 Feb 1902 and the census
was done slightly later. Hattie is still with her grandparents for the 1901
census and was more likely age 16 not 18 when she m/1 Burton. Hattie is
rumored to be the illegitimate d/o Charles Rector and Caroline Lavina
³Cassie² Spence which might explain why she was living with her maternal
grandparents in 1901:

Burton died 14 Sep 1919 and widow, Hattie Spence m/2 Walter Brenton Beatty
on 19 Oct 1923 at St. George¹s, Parrsboro.

Hope this helps.
