"Valerie,
I'm at other home in Florida...don't have my file. The Captain of the Jesse was
Lyons. Cal Moore has more info. More important is an article that my cousin ,
Bina Burns, Brander, Brownell who is 92 spotted in "The Citizen" dated November
6,2010. She related that the article told of a new head stone found by a man
cutting grass at the old church in Linden. She indicated it may have something
to do with the mystery of Sally Troup's grave site. Doesn't anyone have any
information?
Also, I plan to go to Newtonards, N. Ireland next September. Are there any leads
for me to follow up on?

I moved this to another thread since several sub-topics are on the go using the
Brig jessie Heading. Val
I am not sure if he was born in Newtownards, County Down, Ireland or in County
Derry, Ireland. Family stories always indicate that parents John Moore and Mary
Doudle came from County Derry,Ireland and not Newtownards. John Jr's first wife
is said to have been from Newtownards which could give the tie into that area.
Here is a few tidbits of what I do have on John Thomas Moore.

No. 447 Newtonards Grand Masonic Lodge and also Knights Templars. (This may be
a point of interest while you are there.)Cal Moore has the best research of the
earlier generations of anyone I have spoken to so far in regards to the Moore
Clan. We only live a couple of hours apart and hopefully someday will get
together to collaborate. I am surprised he hasn't popped up on this thread yet.
I am close to completing my family tree - earlier generations, with about 2000
hours logged in. (I had alot of spare time on a recent maternity leave) I
haven't been working too much on the Moores lately but I will definately revisit
since I think many of us are some how tied into this family.
New records as well as new researchers are popping up all the time so hopefully
we can shed more light on this family.
A funny quote that my great Uncle told me recently was that the Moores of way
back were either respectable tradesmen or outlaws - some wild relatives we came
from.
I will post the pictures I took while in Linden. I was at Renwick as well as
Linden Cemetery. Makes sense that there used to be a church there since it
looks like there should have been. Hopefully we can see if Sarah Troupe is
buried there. More for me to research next summer....
