It's the same George Melville Cochrane who went by nickname "Mel". Shipbuilder, also built both Parrsboro and Port Greville United (then Methodist) churches. Father of Kenneth J. Cochrane , Late MP. MLA and county councillor.
Strange he married secondly in Colchester County as a bachelor.He was a first cousin of my grandmother
who was another Margaret Elizabeth Canning .
I think he was also a Relative of David WInters.

and Mary, born and reside Port Greville marries Margaret E. Canning, age 19
in 1885
I also have a George M. Cochrane, age-25, and a bachelor, carpenter, son of
William and Mary, born and reside Port Greville, marries a Sadie Soley, age
25 in 1893
The census of 1901 and 1911 track George and Sadie with children
Can anyone shed light on this? Is it the same George ???,
