Halifax Herald 3/9/2005 MOORE, Emmerson Eugene - 90, White Birches
Retirement Home, Amherst, formerly of Little River, Cumberland Co.,
passed away in the home on Tuesday, March 8, 2005. Born in Westchester,
Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late Eli and Dora (Tower) Moore. As
a young man he was employed in the farming and lumbering industries.
Following this, he worked in construction work as a heavy equipment
operator. Prior to his retirement he was employed with the Cobequid
Lumber Company Ltd. He was an adherent of the Little River United
Baptist Church and was a member of the Wimburn Masonic Lodge No. 75 A.F.
and A.M., Oxford, having received his 50 Year Jewel. He also held every
office within the lodge and was a Grand Lodge Officer. He was the last
surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are stepdaughter,
Reita Mae Kaluza, Moncton, N.B.; two stepgranddaughters; four
stepgrandsons; a number of step great-grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former E. Christena (Dixon)
McKenna; stepson, Lawson D. "Ding" McKenna; sisters, Viola Siddal,
Bessie Blair, Lyla Slack-Harpell, Ella Weatherbee, Elsie Fahey-King,
Minnie McLean; brothers, Alford, Maynard, Benjamine "Ben" Moore.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening with funeral service
at 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, both in Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water St.,
Oxford, with Rev. Edgar Patriquin officiating. Interment will take place
in Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to
Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of choice.
The Wimburn Masonic Lodge No. 75 A.F. and A.M., Oxford will hold a
tribute service at the funeral home on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
