Dorothy "June " Brown 1933-2010
Dorothy "June" Brown 77 years of Springhill, passed away on Thursday,
December 30, 2010 in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in
Springhill, she was a daughter of the Late Archibald and Idavim
(Herrett) Lewis. June was a member of St. David's Presbyterian Church
and past member of L.T.B.A. (Orange Lodge). June was a homemaker who
will be remembered for her flower gardens and her generousity. June will
be sadly missed by sons, Dale (Eleanor) Brown Riverview, NB; and Glenn
Brown, Stephenville, Newfoundland; daughter, Debbie (Brian) Fillmore,
Mapleton; sister, Bonnie (Vaughn) Feltham, Pleasant Valley, Queens Co.,
N. S.; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Guy Brown; infant brother,
William and a sister, Shirley Dobson. Arrangements have been entrusted
to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597
2361) from where visitation will be held from 1 - 3 pm on Monday,
January 3, 2011, followed immediately at 3:00 pm by the Funeral Service
with The Reverend Elizabeth Davies officiating. Burial in Mapleton
Cemetery, Cumb. Co., at a later date. If so desired, donations in
June's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

BROWN, Guy A C - 72, Springhill, passed away peacefully in Dr. George's
L. DuMont Hospital in Moncton on Sunday, April 5, 2009. Born in
Springhill, he was a son of Mabel (Goodwin) Brown, Port Elgin, N.B. and
the late Charles Brown. Guy was a member of St. David's Presbyterian
Church, Springhill. He was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces for six
years, serving with the UN Special Forces in Egypt. He worked as a
traveling salesman for Watkins Products for 10 years. He was a lifetime
member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. During his long and respected
career with the Provincial Government he held many positions, including
Minister of Consumer Affairs, Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs,
Minister of Labor, Minister of Agriculture, and Minister for the
Workman's Compensation Board. Guy was an active member of the Chamber of
Commerce and the Springhill Legion. He enjoyed gardening, hunting,
fishing and spending time at the hunting camp. He never forgot about the
people, and enjoyed speaking with anyone and everyone and was always
concerned for those in need. Above all, Guy was a family man and loved
and enjoyed his family. In addition to his mother, he will be sadly
missed by his wife, the former June Lewis; sons, Dale (Eleanor),
Riverview, N.B. and Glenn, Stephenville, N.L.; stepdaughter, Debbie
(Brian) Fillmore, Mapleton; six grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren; brothers, Garnet (Mary), Amherst; Bliss (Debbie),
Bridgewater; Carmen, Murray (Patricia) and Kenneth (Margaret), all of
Sackville, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by
brothers, Matthew at birth, David and Angus. Arrangements have been
entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, N.S.
(902-597-2361) where visiting hours will take place on Wednesday from
2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on
Thursday, April 9 at 2 p.m., Rev. Elizabeth Davies officiating. Burial
will take place in Mapleton Cemetery at a later date. A time of tea and
fellowship will be held in Dr. Carson and Marion Murray Community Center
immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made in Guy's memory to the Guy Brown Library, St. David's Presbyterian
Church, or Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch.
