Rhoda V. MacDonald 1926-2010
Rhoda V. MacDonald, 84, of Sackville, passed away peacefully at the
Sackville Memorial Hospital on Thursday, December 30, 2010. Born in
Westchester, NS, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Viola
(Tower) Siddall. Rhoda will be sadly missed by her husband of 47 years,
Allister MacDonald of Sackville, a daughter, Allyson MacDonald of
Vancouver, sister Beatrice (Jack) Sippley, of Miramichi, many cousins,
nieces, and nephews. Besides her parents, Rhoda was predeceased by five
brothers and three sisters. Cremation has taken place under the care
and supervision of the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville,
NB (364-1300). A visitation will be held from the funeral home 7-9 pm
on Monday, January 3, 2011. There will be no service. Burial will be
in the Hillside Cemetery in Springhill at a later date.

SIDDALL, Willis William - 86, Murray Siding, Colchester Co., passed away
Saturday, August 23, 2008, at The Mira, Truro. Born December 22, 1921 in
Westchester, Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late ****Clarence and
Viola (Moore) Siddall****. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anne
(MacRae), Truro; daughters Dianna (Cliff) Fisher, Ladysmith, B.C.; Pat
(Stephen) Oakes, New Westminster, B.C.; sons, Wendell (Candace),
Calgary, Alta.; Robert (Loretta), Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Darren
and Jonathan Fisher, Joshua and Gabriel Oakes, Andrew (Erin), Gillian
and Graham Siddall and Rachel Siddall; sisters, Rhoda (Al) MacDonald and
Beatrice (Jack) Sippley. He was predeceased by brothers, Ernest, Stanley
and Edgar; sisters, Julia, Mary and Avis. During World War Two he served
overseas with the Seventh Anti- Tank First Corps and received the
1939-45 Star, Italy Star, France-Germany Star, Defense Medal and
Canadian Volunteer Medal and Clasp. Upon discharge, he returned to Truro
and married Anne MacRae. He worked in auto-body repair in Truro until
retirement. His retirement years were spent travelling with Anne and
volunteering at the Legion. As an active member of Branch No. 26 of the
Royal Canadian Legion, he received two certificates of merit, the
Diamond Jubilee Medal, Life Membership, Meritorious Service Medal and in
2002, was awarded the Palm Leaf (the highest award in the Royal Canadian
Legion). He was a charter and lifetime member of the Salmon River
Volunteer Fire Brigade. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be
held on Tuesday August 26, 7-9 p.m. with a Legion Tribute service at 6
p.m., followed by a Fire Brigade Tribute service; a memorial service
will be held Wednesday, August 27 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jak Binderup
officiating, all at the Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow
St., Truro. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may
be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. On-line
