his family and friends. Born in Springhill, January 25, 1916, he was the
only son of the late Leslie and Alice Sterling Rushton. He received his
education in the Springhill schools and for a time worked in the coal mines.
He enlisted during the Second World War and served Overseas with the
Armoured Corps. He is survived by his wife, Rita, in Halifax; two sons,
George, Halifax, and Clarence, Springhill; four sisters, Mary (Mrs. George
McLeod), Stella (Mrs. William Lowther), Elsie (Mrs. George Farrell), and Pat
(Mrs. Don Oakley), all of Springhill. Funeral services were held on
Saturday, April 23, from Brown's Funeral Home, with Captain William Head of
the Salvation Army in charge of the service. Hymns sung were favorites of
the deceased: "Abide With Me", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Safe In The Arms
Of Jesus". The pallbearers were Harold Oakley, Wilfred Teed and Leo
McCarthy, and three nephews of the deceased, Allister McLeod, Herbert
Farrell and Robert Farrell. Interment was made in Hillside Cemetery.
