That was my assumption, ladies especially didn’t want to show a greater age
difference in those days so not too surprised

I¹m assuming a divorce/separation from John Henry Voutier as he didn¹t die
until 23 Feb 1939.

Odd that son, Ivan Voutier lists him as married and to a Hattie (?) on the
death record though.

Assuming Hattie didn¹t want to be seen as robbing the cradle with m/2 to
Perley Joseph Sullivan and fibbed about her actual age and switched to
Harriet from Hattie.

OBITUARY: Mrs. Alice Cooke
The death of Mrs. Alice Melissa Cooke took place at All Saint's Hospital,
Springhill, on Tuesday, March 25th, after a two weeks illness. The deceased
was 80 years of age. Mrs. Cooke was born at West Brook, daughter of the late
Jesse and Annie Henwood. She was twice married, her first husband being
James Rolfe. After his passing she married James Cooke., who passed away
some six years ago. Left to mourn her loss are three sons, George of
Hampton, N.B.; James and John, of Springhill; and one daughter, (Margaret)
Mrs. Clarence Gallagher, where she was tenderly cared for during the last
year. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; two
brothers, James and Jesse, of West Brook; and two sisters, Mrs. Annie
Rector, Springhill; ***Mrs. Hattie Sulliven [Sulluvan?], Niagara Falls***;
and (Nellie) Mrs. Abner Henwood, Halfway River, N.S. Funeral services were
held March 28th. After a short service at the house, the remains were taken
to the United Church in Southampton, where Rev. Raymond Cunningham had
charge of the service. The hymns sung were: "Sometime We'll Understand",
"Does Jesus Care" and "Lead Kindly Light". A solo, "The Sunset Gate" was
sung by Mrs. Lorne Smith. Interment was in the West Brook Cemetery. The
pallbearers were: George, Winston and Curtis Gallagher, Leander, Hibbert and
Ernie Rolfe, all grandsons of the deceased.
