Obit (2003) - Mary Lucy Chapman (nee Melanson)

I'm not researching this family, but thought the following obituary may be helpful to others.

CHAPMAN, Mary Lucy (Melanson) – Passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord while her loving husband was at her side at the Georgetown Hospital, Halton Hills, Ontario during the early morning of Friday, January 10th, 2003. Lucy was 81, the Matriarch of a large family, leaving her husband Donald Brownell Chapman, and three children, Donald Roy Chapman, Sheila JoAnn Bruce and Richard David Chapman. Born in Springhill, Nova Scotia, the fifth child of Joseph Emile Melanson and Matilda Marie (Mary) Boudreau. Her surviving siblings are Theresa Nicholson, Phenomena Cochrane, Ollie Walker, Joe Melanson and Joyce Brown. Lucy spent most of her early life in Amherst, Nova Scotia where she raised her young family. She was a loving, family oriented mother who was involved in the lives of her ever-growing extended family. Lucy was a lifelong avid gardener enjoying the beauty of nature. Her strength and skills focused on traditional family and home building in
the tradition of her French Canadian heritage. She was skilled at knitting, crocheting, and was a fabulous cook, often serving up large Acadian and traditional meals to her large circle of friends and family. The family will receive friends and relatives at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, north of Maple Ave., Georgetown, (905-877-3631) on Sunday, January 12th, 2003 from 2-4 p.m. and on Monday, January 13th, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 14th, 2003 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (1350 Wanless Road, just east of Mississauga Road). Interment to follow at Brampton Memorial Gardens in Brampton.
