A funeral mass will be held tonight for Rev. Charles McGuire, a Jesuit priest. Born in 1905 at Springhill, N.S., McGuire attended high school there, then moved to Ottawa where he worked for Canadian Press as a telegrapher. At the age of 24, McGuire entered the Society of Jesus and began his studies for that order. He took his classical studies at Ignatius College Guelph. …
McGuire who died on Saturday at age 77, while visiting his family in Nova Scotia, worked until his death. From 1978 until this year, he was chaplain at the Marycrest Senior Citizen’s Home in Peterborough. He leaves a sister, Margaret Roberts, of Nova Scotia, and two brothers, Francis of Ottawa, and Darrel of Nova Scotia. The mass will be held at 8 p.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, on Earl St. McGuire will be buried at the Jesuit Cemetery, Ignatius College, Guelph at noon tomorrow.
