Obit: HATFIELD, Leola Mona [née BABINEAU]

HATFIELD, Leola "Mona'' - It is with great sadness that we announce that our
loving mother Leona "Mona" Hatfield passed away peacefully at home on
November 25, 2010. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years,
Edgar ''Shorty'' Hatfield; her son Wayne and daughter-in-law Margie
(Clattenburg). Mona will be greatly missed by her children Hilton, Lesmere,
Kevin (Colleen) and JoAnn (Bra d); grandsons, Michael and Ian Fraser;
great-granddaughter Maggie; sisters Jennie Takalo, Oakville ON; Julia Davis,
Richmond Hill, ON; several nieces, nephews and many family members. Born in
Cape Pelé, NB she was a daughter of the late William and Josephine (Cormier)
Babineau. She moved to Parrsboro at an early age where she eventually met
the love of her life, Shorty, and the two were married and lived happily in
Rockingham since 1944. Mona will be remembered for her kind, loving, caring
nature and her love of life. Visitors were always welcomed with open arms, a
smile and a cup of tea. Mona was predeceased by her sisters Elizabeth
Babineau, Melda Lorette , Louzina Hatfield and brothers, Alex, Leonard,
Emile, Albert, Edgar, Gerald, Joe and Laurie Babineau. Visitation will be
held Sunday, November 28 from 2-5 pm in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers
Rd, Halifax. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, November 29 in
St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church (Cor. of Radcliffe Drive and Dunbrack
Street), Reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will take place in
Oakrldge Memory Gardens Lower Sackville. Donations pay be made to a charity
