OBITUARY: Capt. William Collins
Parrsboro - Captain Miles Collins, 98, died Friday in Advocate. Captain
Collins was a master mariner and spent 40 years at sea. He was born April
18, 1864, the son of the late Charles Wallace Collins and Elisa Ann (Lank)
of Maine. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He is survived by his
widow, the former Ellen Reid, Advocate; three sons, Charles A., Milton,
Mass.; William Miles, Junior, Whetherfield, Conn.; Vernon K., Challenge,
Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Barry S. Cochrane, Wolfville; and Miss Mildred
Collins, Worcester, Mass.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. One
son, E. Reid, Buffalo, N.Y. Predeceased him. The funeral service took place
Monday from his home with Rev. Mr. Bentley officiating. Interment was in the
family lot in the Advocate Baptist Church Cemetery.
