SKIDMORE, Eleanor Grace - 61, 10 Riverview Dr., New Glasgow, passed away
August 6, 2003, at her home. Born in Wallace, she was a daughter of the late
Roland and Marieta (Howard) Nairn. She has been a resident of New Glasgow
since 1968. Eleanor worked as a school teacher having taught in Stellarton,
schools in the municipality of Pictou and retired from Frank H. MacDonald
Elementary School. She was very involved with the Children's Wish Foundation
and Toastmaster Association. Eleanor was an avid reader and wrote many plays
and poems. Surviving are her husband, Edward, New Glasgow; daughters, Nicole
Skidmore (Troy Quinn), New Glasgow; Wanda (John) Nickerson, Augusta, Me.;
Shelley Wells, Alberta; son, Darren, Ottawa; loving grandchildren, Andrew,
Haley, Elicia, Travis, Matthew, Jason, Greg and Kayla; brothers, Bernard
(Lynda), Plymouth Park; Roy, Peterborough, Ont. She was predeceased by
brother, Robert; grandchildren, Amanda, Shane and J.J. Visitation will be
2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral
service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel,
Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Wallace River
Cemetery. Donations in Eleanor's memory may be made to The Arthritis Society

OBITUARY: Harold J. Skidmore
Trenton - Harold Johnson Skidmore, 78, of Spruce Street, formerly of
Evansville, Stellarton, died Saturday in Trenton. Born in Caanan [sic], a
son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Skidmore, he was a retired farmer.
Surviving are two daughters, Bernice (Mrs. George White), Country Harbor;
Helen (Mrs. Clyde Marshall), Oromocto, N.B.; two sons, James, Toronto; Reg,
Trenton; 15 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Viva Quinn, Parrsboro; five
brothers, Elverton and Hebert, Stellarton; Vernon, New Glasgow; Kenneth and
Gervin, in Parrsboro. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Gertrude
Lloyd and by five brothers. The body is at the MacQuarrie Funeral Home,
Stellarton. Funeral service wil be held Tuesday at 2 p.m., in Christ
Anglican Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

OBITUARY: Skidmore, Elverton Willis (Al) - 91, 155 Hudson St., Stellarton,
died September 26, 1992, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New
Canaan, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Henry and Emma (Brown)
Skidmore. He was a resident of Stellarton since 1928 and a member of Sharon
St. John United Church. During his working life, he was employed with Fraser
and Ross Feed Mill and then drove truck for British American Oil for 39
years. He was an avid bowler. He was the last surviving member of his
immediate family. He is survived by his wife, the former Marion Dunbar;
three sons, Arnold, Henry, both of Stellarton; Robert, Merigomish; two
daughters, Marion (Mrs. Bill Bernath), Essex, Ont.' Mrs. Clara Gordon, New
Glasgow; 26 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a
daughter, Vera; a son, Earle; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren;
a sister, Viva; ten brothers, James, Harold, Thornton, Burton, Harry,
Gervin, Vernie, Herbert, Henry, Kenneth. The body is in H.C. MacQuarrie
Funeral Home, Stellarton, where funeral will be 2 p.m., today, Rev. Foster
Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. Family flowers
only. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke
Foundation of Nova Scotia.

SKIDMORE, Henry Daniel - 80, Hudson St., Stellarton, passed away Saturday,
July 8, 2006, in Aberdeen Regional Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Joggin's,
Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late Elverton and Marion (Dunbar)
Skidmore. Henry was a resident of Stellarton all of his life. He served in
the Second World War, serving in Germany after the war. Upon his return to
Stellarton, he worked at Trenton Works until his retirement. Henry was an
avid hunter, gun collector and loved target practice at the rifle range. He
loved fly tying, reading westerns and had a great sense of humour. Surviving
are sisters, Clara Gordon, New Glasgow, and Marion (William) Bernath, Essex,
Ont.; sister-in-law, June Skidmore, Merigomish; many nieces, nephews,
cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Vera
Allison, and brothers, Arnold, Robert and Earle. Cremation has taken place.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in H.C.
MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, where funeral service will take place
at 2 p.m. on Tuesday with Rev. Charles MacPherson officiating. Burial will
be in the Brookside Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in
memory of Henry may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova

SKIDMORE, Arnold Elverton - 77, Foster Avenue, Stellarton, died Saturday,
February 19, 2000, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Joggins,
Cumberland Co., he was the son of the late Elverton Willis and Marion
(Dunbar) Skidmore. He had lived in Riverton and Stellarton since 1965 and
had worked in various Pictou County coal mines in his earlier years. He was
a veteran of the Second World War. Following the war, he returned to work in
the mines and in 1951, he rejoined the forces and served with the Black
Watch until retiring in 1966 due to illness, He then went on to work at
Maritime Steel and Scott Paper, retiring in 1974. He was an avid hunter and
fisherman, was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 28, Stellarton and
was a past member of the Pictou County Poultry Association and the Nova
Scotia Poultry Association. He was a member of the Christ Anglican Church,
Stellarton. He is survived by daughters, Linda (Mrs. Dale Urquhart),
Westville; Karen (Mrs. Jules LaHaie), Snow Lake, Man. and their children
Neal, Sherry-Lynn and Louis; Catherine (Mrs. Gerard Callahan), Mackenzie,
B.C. and their children Joshua, Jacob and Amanda; sons, Bill, Stellarton;
Richard, New Glasgow; Philip and wife Teresa, Wainright, Alta. and their
children Wendy Dawn and Jason; Kerry and wife Darlene, Calgary and their
children Linda, Andrew and Steven; brothers, Henry, Stellarton; Robert
(June), Merigomish; sisters, Clara Gordon, New Glasgow; Marion (Mrs. William
Bernath), Essex, Ont.; great-grandson, Brandon and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Dorothy Sweet; granddaughter,
Rebecca Marie Skidmore; brother, Earle; sister, Vera Allison. His remains
are resting at H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, with visitation
today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on
Tuesday, from Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton, Rev. James MacCorriston
officiating. Burial will be in the Christ Church Cemetery. Family flowers
