Obit: McDONALD, Nancy Olivia Ann [née PORTER]

MCDONALD (Porter ), Nancy Olivia Ann - Nancy passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, June 21, 2010, at the age of 56 years after a brave four-year battle with ovarian cancer. Beloved wife of Allan. Loving mother of Katherine (Antoine Desmarais) and James. Predeceased
by her parents, Donald and Christine (Greencorn) Porter (of River Hebert); her brother, Donnie. Survived by her sister, Donna Porter (Robert Fortin) of Ottawa; brother, Dale Porter (Brenda) of River Hebert, Nancy graduated from the Victoria General School of Nursing in 1981, met and married Allan (August 1982). As the spouse of a military officer, their life together took them to England and multiple times in Halifax and Ottawa. She will be remembered for her determination and energy, her love of family, her passion for travelling the world, her numerous pets and her amazing sense of humour which she never lost. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Friends may pay respects at Kelly Funeral Home, 2370 St. Joseph Blvd (Orleans, Ont.) today, June 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Friday, June 25 in Kelly Funeral Home Chapel at 1 pm. Interment will take place in Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa at later date. According to her stated wishes, in lieu of flowers donations to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, Ovarian Cancer Canada or the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
