Violet (Wheaton) Mahar of Fox River

I have her husband, Douglas D. Mahar as lost at sea in the sinking of the
"Western Head" on 28 May 1942.

OBITUARY: Mrs. Violet Mahar
Mrs. Violet Mahar, 58, Amherst, passed away October 14 at Lockhart's Nursing
Home, Amherst where she had resided for the past two years. Born at Fox
River, Cumberland County, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and
Vertis (Sherriff) Wheaton. For many years she was a resident of the
community of Fox River, before moving to Amherst. Her husband, Douglas
Mahar, was lost at sea while serving his country during World War II. She is
survived by one daughter, Georgina, Kentville, N.S.; two brothers, Lawrence,
Port Greville; Morton, Amherst; also by two grandsons. The funeral service
was held from Furlong's Funeral Home. Interment was in the Amherst Cemetery.
