BIRD, JAMES AUBREY  "Jim" (CA EMBA-
67, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully in Dartmouth General
Hospital on the morning of March 16, 2010, after a courageous two
-year battle with brain cancer.Raised in Springhill, Jim was the son
 of Ivy Doris ( Pettigrew ) Bird and Aubrey Joseph Bird. He is survived
by his loving wife of 45 years,Jean ( Allen );sons,Steven (Jennifer )
and David; daughter; Caroline ; mother; Ivy;  sister, Ruth(  John )
Geddes; and his grandchildren, Bradley, Taylor, Kaitlinb, Maia,
Jordan, Madison and Chloe. He was predeceased by father, Aubrey
Joseph and two infant sisters.Jim enjoyed a long and distinguished
career working for the Provincial and Federal Auditor General's
Departments; the Grace Maternity /IWK Hospital and Saint Vincent's
Guest Home. He attain ed his  Chartered Account designation in
1967 and his Exectutive Masters of Business Administration  from
Saint Mary's University in 1994. He enjoyed golf, hockey, running ,
dancing and working out at the gym. He was an active member of
the Woodlawn United Church in Dartmouth and a 32nd degree Mason,
 Member of AASR Valley of Halifax, Hiram Lodge No. 6 F & AM
Maxwell Lodge of Perfection, King Solomon Chapter Rose Croix.
Jim will be forever remembered by his family and friends for his
kind heart , positive outlkook and sense of humour. Cremation
has taken place under the care of Atlantic Funeral Homes, 771 Main
Street , Dartmouth where visitation will be held on Thursday, March
18, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m..A service to celebrate Jim's life and faith
will be held on Friday March 19, at 10 a.m. in Woodlaw United Church,
54 Woodlawn Rd.,Dartmouth with a reception to follow in the
church hall.In lieu of flowers, donations  in Jim's memory may be
made to the Accessibility Fund at the Woodlawn United Church or

His paternal grandparents were  Samuel Havelock Bird and Clara May Thompson and his maternal grandparents were James Amos Pettigrew and Florence Levinea Pettigrew.
