Clipping, hand dated: "1940"
"CHILD IS VICTIM
AMHERST, Oct 21 - Little Geraldine Gilroy, two, daughter of Mr and Mrs Gerald Gilroy of Maccan, was instantly killed by a car driven by her grandmother, Mrs Verne J Harrison, Maccan, today. Mrs Harrison had taken the little girl for a drive and on arriving at her home let her out and thought she had gone into the house. Instead the child went behind the car. When the brake was released to back down a slight grade Mrs Harrison heard a bump and on stopping the car discovered she had hit the little girl. Medical aid was summoned but on arrival the child was pronounced dead. Constable Steinhauer who investigated the accident announced that there was no need for an inquest."
