OBITUARY:
Rector, Hugh Bradford - 85, Old Row, Thorburn and New Glasgow, died June 4,
1996 in Glen Haven Manor, where he had been a resident for two weeks. He
died peacefully in his sleep after a brief illness. He was the son of the
late Ruben and Mary Rector. He was a retired coal miner having worked in
both the MacBean and Albion Mines. In his retirement he took up the training
and racing of horses and was a well known figure on the race horse circuit.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, the former Lillian Clyburne; son,
Joseph, Thorburne; grandchildren, Darlah, Patsy, Ken, Kevin; eight great
grandchildren; brother, Alex, Pine Tree. He was predeceased by brothers,
Tom, Bob. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Today, funeral 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6,
both in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, Rev. Glenn MacDonald
officiating. Burial in Thorburn Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may
be made to the Children's Wish Foundation.

OBITUARY:
Rector, Thomas Reuben - 82, Pine Tree, Pictou County, formerly of Thorburn,
died Monday at Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Thorburn, he was a
son of the late Ruben and Mary (Rector) Rector. He was a resident of
Thorburn most of his life, residing in Pine Tree for the past 10 years. He
was an adherent of Southerland's River Presbyterian Church. He was a retired
coal miner having worked in most Pictou County coal mines. He is survived by
a son, Thomas, Toronto; Two brothers, Alex, Pine Thee; Hugh, Thorburn. He
was predec eased by his wife, the former Susan MacLellan; a sister,
Florence; two brothers, Robert, Hibbert. The body is in H.W. Angus Funeral
Home, visitation after 2 p.m. And where funeral service will be 2 p.m.
Wednesday, Rev. Glenn MacDonald officiating. Spring burial Brookside
Cemetery.
