Re: Fw: [nscumber] Samuel H. Bird husband of Maud Angus

I wish you luck because if there ever was an example of confusing and conflicting rules and procedure this is it. I will go through it province by province to save your sanity and mine.Do not even think of looking at Collections Canada . Their records focus on the convicted not on the deceased.
BC . The best system . Birth records after 120 years, marriages 75 years and deaths 20 years.T is easily accesible on the internet . Go to gov.bc.ca on the web and follow directions .

ALBERTA Birth 100 years , marriage 75 years and deaths 50 years . It is NOT accessible on the internet for a search . You have to go to SERVICE ALBERTA and download a form and mail it in. ( the capitals are frustration over the horse and buggy mentality)

SASKATCHEWAN . Births 100 years , marriage 75 years and deaths 70 years . Available in theory on line BUT ; Births are available , No deaths after 1917 are available and marriages will not start until deaths are completed.Search Saskatchewan vital statistics genealogy on google.

MANITOBA Births 100 years , marriages 80 years and deaths 70 years . search the internet for manitoba vital statistics genealogy . This is the user friendly site of the 4 .
You mght want to try the various newspapers in the wst . It just occured to me that the funeral home may have a clue. If John's remains were returned from wherever for burial a point of origin may be available . Good Luck .
Geoff
