NEVES, Carrie E. - 89, of Mount Uniacke, Hants Co., passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010, in Northwood Centre, Halifax. Born in West Apple River, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Pearl (McWhirter) Fletcher. Carrie spent her life raising her children and working on the family farm in Apple River until moving to Mount Uniacke in 1958 where she worked for Swan Lake Motel and Cottages in Mount Uniacke for many years. She resided with her son, Abbie and his wife, Sharon for 28 years, until her time in Northwood. She is survived by daughters, Myrna Haight (James), Digby; Lorraine Dickie (Alden), Meaghers Grant; Anna Emberly (Val), Beaver Bank; Elaine MacDougall (Frank Lynk), Minesville; Levenia Hibberts (James), Mount Uniacke; sons, Harold (Geraldine), East Advocate; Alban "Abbie" (Sharon), Garry (Debbie), all of Mount Uniacke; sister, Louise Crossley, Halifax; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Alban; daughter, Cora Pearle in infancy; sons, Ralph and Garnet; sister, Patsy. Visitation 12-2 p.m. Monday (February 1) in Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., Rev. Donald Hirtle officiating. Burial in Advocate Cemetery. NEVES, Garnet Lewellyn - 61, of Apple River, Cumberland County, NS, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2001, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of Carrie Ellen (Fletcher) and the late Alban Felix Neves. He retired in 1990 after working for many years with Canada Post, Halifax and the Federal Department of Fisheries. Garnet was a very avid wood-carver and woodworker. He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Kathleen Anne (Bertrand); daughter, Karen Madeleine and son Garnet Lewellyn Jr. (Adelia), all of Halifax. He is also survived by brothers, Ralph (the late Blanche Nickerson), Harold (Geraldine), Garry (Debbie) Alban Jr. (Sharon); sisters, Myrna (James Haight), Lorraine (Alden Dickie), Levenia (James Hibberts), Anna (Val Embree), Elaine and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. today, August 11, 2001, in Snow's Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax.
