Surviving are wife, Betty Edwards; daughters, Marceline, Veronique; son, Dennis; grandson, Tylar; brothers, Yvon, Bill; nieces and nephews. Mr. J. A. Leon Vautour June 10, 1931 - January 16, 2010
J. A. Leon Vautour age 78 of Amherst and formerly of St. John and Moncton NB, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan. Born in Richiboucto, NB, he was a son of the late William and Ozelie (Barrieau) Vautour. He served overseas in 1955-1958 with the Canadian Armed Forces and worked as a civilian contractor with the American Army, installing the Radar Sites in Labrador. Leon retried from the Scotia Bank after many years of service with the highest of work ethic and integrity. He then served as a Commissionaire in various locations throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Always involved in numerous volunteer work in the community, which he lived in, such as Boys Scouts of Canada, Coaching Minor Hockey, and Martial Arts. Leon had a great passion for all animals, especially horses, and his loving dog T-Bone. Leon will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, the former Betty Edwards of Amherst, daughters, Marceline Vautour of Edmonton AB, Veronique Vautour of Riverview NB, and Dennis Vautour of Halifax NS; grandson, Tylar of Fall River NS; brothers, Yvon "Babe" (Audrey) of Grande Cache AB and Bill (Ida) of Barnaby NB; and several nieces and nephews. His remains are resting in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting hours on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father David MacDonald officiating. Reception to follow. Interment will be at a later date in the Ragged Reef Cemetery, Joggins NS.
