AMON, Dora Gertrude
98, of Shiretown Nursing Home, and formerly of Strathcona Place, Pictou,
passed away April 26, 2009, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Green
Hill, N.B., she was a daughter of the late John and Annie (Cooper) Logan.
Dora was employed with Eatons, and was a member of St. James Anglican
Church, Pictou, as well as a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Before moving to the Home nine years ago, she was a long-time resident of
Strathcona Place, and was very active in the 50+ club for many years.
Surviving are her daughter, Ann (Walter) Saffert; granddaughter, Karen
(Ward) Giroux; great-grandson, Rory; all of Oakville, Ont.; niece, Donna
Logan, New Glasgow; numerous other nephews, and nieces. She was predeceased
by her husband, Roy; sister, Francis Skidmore; brothers, Robert, Clarence,
George, and Alan; one grandson. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m.
Wednesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place
11 a.m. Thursday from St. James Anglican Church, Pictou, with Rev. Bill
White officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Family flowers only
please. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

OBITUARY: Leroy Howard Amon
Leroy Howard Amon passed away in Halifax last week at the age of 64. He was
born in Parrsboro, son of the late Howard and Janie Amon. For many years he
had lived in Pictou where he was employed at Ferguson Industries Limited. He
is survived by his wife, the former Dora Logan of Parrsboro; a daughter,
Anne (Mrs. Walter Saffert), Islington, Ont.; and two grandchildren. Also
surviving are three brothers, Hantsford, Percy and Bedford, all of
Parrsboro; four sisters, Ethel (Mrs. Everett Hyndman), of Collingwood;
Gertrude (Mrs. Reginald Guilderson) of Nanaimo, B.C.; Flora (Mrs. Albert
Anderson) and Dorothy (Mrs. Ralph Brayley), both of Parrsboro. The funeral
service was held on Thursday, September 7th, at 2:30 p.m. From St. James
Anglican Church, Pictou. Interment was made in the parish cemetery.
