OBITUARY:
McKay, Winnifred Beatrice (Winnie) - 93, 1 Cornwall St., Amherst, died July
5, 1992 in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Port Greville,
Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Seamore and Maude (Ells)
McCully. She is survived by two daughters, Isabella McKay, Mildred (Mrs.
Donald Nixon), both of Amherst; two sons, Kenneth, Ronald, both of Amherst;
five sisters, Ruby Allen, Fox River, Cumberland County; Carrie Legere,
Gertrude Newcombe, both of Parrsboro; Gletta Loh, Dartmouth; Meaurita
Hohnan, Springhill; four brothers, Emerson, Ward's Brook, Cumberland County;
Lorne, Wilfred, both of Grand Manan, N.B.; Murray, Dartmouth; 11
grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter. She was
predeceased by her husband, Berton; son, Carl; daughter, Lena; four
brothers, Harold, Thornton, Brenton, Trueman; sister, Bertha. The body is in
Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Today, where
funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Jean Simms-Mills officiating. Burial
will be in Amherst Cemetery. Donations may be made to any charity.

OBITUARY: Bertram Amos McKay
The sudden passing of Bertram Amos McKay, at his home, 1 Cornwall Street,
caused widespread regret among his many friends in Amherst. Mr. McKay, who
was in his 50th year, had only been sick a short time when his death
occurred on Saturday morning. He came to Amherst 30 years ago, entering the
employee of the Canadian Car and Foundry Company, and remained with this
firm until it was purchased by the Enamel and Heating Company. He worked
with the latter industry up until the time of his death. He was a son of
Mrs. Amos McKay and the late Mr. McKay and is survived by his wife, the
former Winnie McCully of Port Greville as well as by three sons, Carl,
Kenneth and Ronald, all of Amherst; three daughters, Isabel, Amherst; Mrs.
Harold Blakney (Lena), Lakewood, Saint John County; and Mrs. Donald Nixon
(Mildred), of Amherst. Three sisters, Ada, Mrs. Steve Delaney, Halifax;
Grace, Mrs. Alfred Legere, Springhill; Edith, Mrs. Albert Linkletter,
Amherst; three brothers, Raymond, Merrill and Walter, all of Amherst also
survive. The body is resting at Furlong's Funeral Home until Tuesday when
the funeral will be held at 2 p.m. From that place.

OBITUARY: Mrs. Lettie MacKay
Mrs. Lettie MacKay passed away in All Saint's Hospital, Springhill, after a
lengthy illness. Born in Cutler, Maine, on the 9th of March, 1871, she moved
with her parents to Nova Scotia as a child, married Amos MacKay of
Parrsboro, and then moved to Shulee and Joggins, where she lived many years.
Her husband predeceased her in 1918, as well as five of her children, Edna,
Ernest, Bertram, Lawrence and Raymond. Five children are living to mourn her
loss, Grace (Mrs. Alfie Legere), Springhill; Mrs. Edith Linkletter, of
Halifax; Ada (Mrs. Stephen Delorey), Springhill; Merrill, of Amherst; and
Walter, of New Glasgow; also a step-daughter, Mrs. Janie Porter, of Canning,
N.S. She has sixteen grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren to mourn her
passing. A member of the Methodist Church and later of the United Church,
she was an adherent of the Wesley United Church in Springhill. She moved to
Springhill eight years ago to live with her daughters, Grace and Ada. Mrs.
MacKay was a woman whose main interest were her home and family. She had a
great concern and interest in others. The remains are resting at Furlong's
Funeral Home in Amherst from which place the funeral will be held Saturday
afternoon at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. McConnell of Springhill in charge. The
remains will be placed in the Highland Receiving Vault in Amherst for
interment in the Spring.
