Nixon, Donald Edward
NIXON, Donald Edward - 73, 22 Acadia St., Amherst, died April 3, 1996,
in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Amherst, he was a
son of the late William and Alice (Gaudet) Nixon. He worked in the
service department and on line crew of Canada Electric and Nova Scotia
Power Corp. for 45 years until retirement in 1985. He was a member of
St. Charles Roman Catholic Church; former member of the parish council;
4th degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 2916; member of Royal
Canadian Legion, Amherst branch 10 and was awarded the Queen's Silver
Jubilee Medal in 1977. Surviving are his wife, the former Mildred McKay;
daughters, Joan (Mrs. Andy Fotis), Halifax; Paula (Mrs. Michael
LaRusic), Amherst; sons, Gerald, Nepean, Ont.; Doug, Dartmouth; sisters,
Loretta LeBlanc, Sackville, N.B.; Eleanor (Mrs. Den Rhindress), Trenton,
Ont.; Cora (Mrs. Gerald Arsenault), Edmonton, Alta.; brothers, Harold,
Espanola, Ont.; Bob, Welland, Ont.; eight grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brother, Leonard. Visitation
7-9 p.m. Saturday, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, prayers 8 p.m. Sunday, all in
Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst. Funeral 10 a.m. Monday in St. Charles
Roman Catholic Church, Amherst, Rev. John L. Hayes officiating. Burial
at a later date in St. Chareles/Nativity of Our Lady Cemetery, Amherst.
