HI Dave,

I usually do year - month - day myself, but the date I quoted was extracted
from the Chronicle-Herald Obits CD; I should probably have made that clear
(was in a hurry to leave for the airport).

Anyway, the Herald CD uses month-day-year, so as you surmised it means the
obituary was published on 11 September 1973.
