I didn¹t pick up on the ³Ruth² but now think you¹re onto something here.

Wilfred Lloyd ³Willie² McCully¹s obit says; ³special aunts, and uncles that
were like brothers and sisters to him². This indicates to me he was raised
as by his grandparents as a son, not a grandson.

The secret may be to track down the obit for Ruth Marsh via first locating
the 1972 obit for Roland Walter Marsh to see if ³Ruth² has a married name
etc.
