Frank,
I sent you the pictures off line.
I am uncertain which Smith that Smith Road was named after but was probably
a descendant of John and Dorothy (Shipley) Smith who started the Cumberland
County branch of the Irish Smiths of Stanley, Hants County. Many of the
Smiths in the Nappan area are from this family. As I outlined in the
e-mail I am aware of many connections between the Read and Smith families
but much later than Stephen Read's time. Are your connections earlier than
the ones I have beginning in the mid 1850's?

Hi Read.
Thank you for that info.I will pass that info on to Ginny. She is
researching the names in a Scott bible. The bible dates to 1599.I believe it
is actually a Read family bible that was passed down to a Scott. She is
trying to find the connection to the Scotts and Reads. The names on the
headstones may help.Scotts lived in Amherst Point so that would not be far
from Read's Island.
I have connected the Reads to the Irish Smiths of Stanley,Hants Co. and
these Smiths are connected to the Scotts so that may be a lead.
Do you know which Smith the Smith Road is named after leading from route#2
to the Southampton Road?
I would like a picture of Reads Island also if it is not to much trouble.
Thanks again,Frank
