David,
If this helps, I have a note in my files that Thomas Alton Johnston had two children by his first marriage to May Beatrice McAloney and one of the children was named Alton Johnston who died 2 ? Feb 1972.
(apparently froze to death on the Red River road outside of Port Greville)

Anyone know which McCully daughter was married to Alton Johnston in 1953?
I have a Thomas Alton Johnstone, born New Salem 8 Feb 1899, s/o Duncan
Johnstone and Bessie Grant.
He m/1 May Beatrice McAloney from New Salem on 27 Jun 1917, United Baptist,
Advocate Harbour . May Beatrice died 8 Jul 1942 in New Salem of a stroke.
He was also married to widow, Bessie Alma (Lyman) Siddall (John Stephen
Siddall from Southampton) However John Stephen didn't die until 1969. Bessie
Alma died 5 May 1995
So, there's a possibility Thomas Alton could have been married to one of the
McCully girls between 1943 and at least up to 1969 or later.
A "possibility" is Maurita Mamie McCully who m/1 John Lawrence Baker from
Halifax on 26 Nov 1931, United, 416 Robie St. Halifax. He died 31 Dec 1945
in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, leaving her a wodow.
