PURCELL (Fife), Clara Rozella "Rose" - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clara Rozella (Fife) Purcell "Rose", 79. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 13, 2004, in Eastern Shore Memorial Hopsital, Sheet Harbour. She was the loving wife of the late George Patrick Purcell. Born July 13, 1924, in Five Islands, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Thelma (MacAloney) Fife. She attended Nova Scotia Teachers College in Truro and began a teaching career which spanned 33 and a half years. After teaching many students, she retired in 1979 in Sheet Harbour. She is survived by daughter, Margaret (Elmer) Mombourquette, Sheet Harbour; sons, Brian (Wanda) Purcell, Sheet Harbour; James (Inez) Purcell, Popes Harbour; grandchildren, Kelly, Sasha, Lisa, Bayne, Nicole, Robyn, George and Candace; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Emily, Hannah and Hunter; sister, Gracie (Arnold) Goodwin, Southampton; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, David; sister, Arleen. Rose enjoyed many things in life including bingo, cards, crossword puzzles, storytelling, which will be greatly missed, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rose was a strong, independent woman who has left behind a legacy of strong will and courage. She will be sadly missed by all. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Monday, with prayers 7:30 p.m., both in D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Main St., Sheet Harbour. Memorial service 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Sheet Harbour, Sister Cecilia Sacca, Rev. Michael Mugford and Rev. Katherine Tait officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association.
