Percy Garfield Smith of Diligent River-Bass River
I copied this obit as he was born in Diligent River.
This fellow took some research but I think I've got him figured out
correctly. Another can of worms with all the multiple marriages.
I have him as s/o George Smith and Caroline Elizabeth McKin.
If someone else has a better solution, I'm all ears.

George Smith was m/1 to Mary Jane Hatfield (1798-1866). She was previously
married to John Graham Jr. (1788-1827)
George Smith m/2 Caroline Elizabeth McKin on 11 Dec 1872 in Five Islands.
George died 15 Apr 1880 at Diligent River right after getting Caroline
pregnant with Percy Garfield Smith, born 20 Jan 1881 at Diligent River.

OBITUARY: Percy G. Smith
Bass River, January 9 - Percy Garfield Smith, prominent citizen of Bass
River and veteran of World War One, died at Colchester County Hospital,
Truro recently, following an illness of four weeks. Mr. Smith was born at
Diligent River and came to Bass River at an early age. When a young man he
entered the insurance field and in September, 1950, completed his 45th year
as representative of the Great West Life Assurance Company. He held the rank
of Lieutenant in the 145th Battalion, C.E.F., and served in Canada and
England. He received the rank of Captain and later was given the honorary
rank of Major, returning to his native Nova Scotia. with his English bride,
the former Rose Alice Fenner, who predeceased him about six months ago. He
was widely known throughout the province. He was a member of Corinthian
Lodge, AF and AM for 49 years, also one of the earlier members of Knights of
Pythias Lodge No. 34, and did much to promote the life and activity of the
lodge. He was a member of the Canadian Legion. The funeral service, which
was largely attended, was held in the Bass River Baptist Church. The service
was conducted by Dr. B.D. Knott, of Truro, who is pastor of the church.
Survivors are an adopted daughter, Mrs. Donald Fulton, and a nephew, J.A.
Wilson. Interment was in the Bass River Baptist Cemetery.
