Obit: MacDONALD, Jessie Charlotte [née CALDER]

MacDONALD, Jessie Charlotte - 93, Howie Center/Pugwash, passed away March 7, 2009, in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. Born in St. George's Channel, Richmond Co., she was a daughter of the late James and Annie "Morrison" Calder. Jessie loved to quilt, crochet, knit, do needlepoint and play cards. Surviving are her daughter, Anne (Allison) Gillis, Pugwash; grandchildren, Kerry (Peter) Turner, Tantallon; Leigh (Paton Francis) Gillis, Bedford; great-grandchildren, Jenna, Allie and Brennan Turner; brother, William "Billy" Calder, St. George's Channel; sisters, Margaret Warren, Vernon, B.C., Christine Wheaton, Halifax; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Donald "Dan" MacDonald; son, Hugh Ian MacDonald; brother, John Calder. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 20, in Sydney Memorial Chapel, 49 Welton St., Sydney, from where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating with a reception to follow in Memorial Chapel. Burial in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date. Family flowers only.
