BROWN, Marilyn "Joan" Lois - 78 years, of Main Street, Springhill, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009, in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Springhill on February 24, 1931, Joan was a daughter of the Late Murray K. and Laura M. (Hill) Mills. She was employed with CIBC, Springhill Branch for many years. She married Charles William (Bill) Brown on April 14, 1952, and throughout her life she enjoyed creating through pottery, knitting, crocheting and flower arranging. Her memory will always be treasured by her children, Anita (David) Kingdon, Middle LaHave; Jennifer Brown, Springhill; David Murray (Christine) Brown, Barrie, Ont.; grandchildren, Laura, Robert, Andrew and MacKenzie. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles William Brown; sisters, Shirley Kempton and Pat MacLeod; brother, Glenwyr Mills. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today and 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, followed immediately at 3 p.m. by a memorial funeral service with The Rev. Marilyn Haugen-Strand officiating, all held in A. H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the GOVRC Workshop Springhill, The Canadian Cancer Society or the Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated.
