APPLETON, Arnold Douglas - 91, Springhill, passed away peacefully in All Saints Springhill Hospital, Springhill on Wednesday, March 4, 2009. Born in Truro, Colchester Co., he was a son of the late James and Hilda (Brown) Appleton. Prior to his retirement he was employed as an accountant with the Nova Scotia Power Company Ltd. in Springhill. He enjoyed taking drives to Amherst and other parts of Cumberland County. Surviving are his stepson, Clifford A. Dixon (Sherry), Oxford; eight stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; four step great great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur Appleton (Eileen), Fredericton, N.B.; niece, Dorothy; nephews, James and Jeffrey. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mona G. (Wood) Dixon (2009). Cremation has taken place at the request of the deceased. There will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside committal service will be held in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill at a later date, Rev. Frank Likely officiating.
