YORKE, Harry Alva - The passing occurred in Green Valley, Ariz. of Harry Alva Yorke, of Chester, January 31, 2009. He was born February 24, 1934, son of Angus and Ethel (Bardon) Yorke. He is survived by his wife, Laura Jean (MacKenzie); daughter, Lisa (Yves) Tremblay; sons, James, and Peter (Lesley); grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexandre, Emilie, and Jonathan Tremblay, Matthew, Michael and Anna Yorke. He was a brother to Merle (Malcolm), Eileen (Paul), Myra (Art), Donald, Bardon (Adele), Greta (Allister), and Darrell. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Alta. Harry left Nova Scotia at a very young age and tried various jobs but the pride of his working life was his co-founding of Swing Stage Limited in Toronto, an international design and manufacturing company of high rise suspended scaffolding, and window washing equipment for the C.N. Tower. He returned to Nova Scotia and established a precast concrete company on the south shore, then to installation and snow removal of Canada Post community mail boxes. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Everett Branch No. 88. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, businessman, sportsman, and friend. He loved people and life and was always ready with a joke and a smile. At his request there will be no services but there will be a celebration of his life at a later date. Donations to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Canadian Cancer Society, South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, or a charity of one's choice. A special thank you to his doctors, nurses and friends for all their help, visits, and calls.
