Stella May Harrington of Five Islands

I'm puzzled.

Earl K. Field was born about 1919 in Five Islands and says his parents were
Ralph Field and Stella Harrington.

I can't locate a marriage for Ralph and Stella but I located one for Stella
and Gustave Somenberg for 24 Dec 1919 at the Methodist Church, Springhill.

Am I missing something here? Was Earl K. born Somenberg and adopted as
