OBITUARY:
Phinney, Elsie M. - 96, Parrsboro, died Friday in Bayview Memorial Hospital,
Advocate.Born in Parrsboro, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah
Best. She is survived by a granddaughter, Donna Manuge, Shelburne; a
grandson, Charles Manuge, Parrsboro. She was predeceased by her first
husband, Henry Ward; second husband, Alvin Phinney; a daughter, Marjorie
Manuge; a son, Albro Ward. The body is in Smith's Funeral Home, visiting
3-5, 7-9 p.m. Today. Funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday in St. George's Anglican
Church, Parrsboro, Rev. Winthrop Jackson officiating. Burial will be in
church cemetery. Donations may be made to St. George's Anglican Church.

OBITUARY: Alvin Phinney
The funeral service for the late Alvin Phinney was held from St. George's
Church on Thursday afternoon, July 7th, and was conducted by Ven Archdeacon
Harris. The pallbearers were John Guest, J.H. Cutten, J.L. Grant and Albert
Grant, Vestrymen of the church. Interment was made in the Anglican Cemetery.
There were many lovely floral tributes and other expressions of sympathy. In
ill health since February, Mr. Phinney was believed to be improving, but on
Monday morning, July 4th, he passed away suddenly at his home on Western
Avenue. Seventy years of age, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William
Phinney of Parrsboro Roads. A carpenter by trade, he was one of the town's
most respected citizens. A faithful member of St. George's Church, he was
one of the Vestrymen for many years. Surviving are his wife, the former
Elsie Best Ward of Parrsboro. Also three brothers, Bradford and Doane,
Parrsboro, and Percy of Scarboro Bluffs, Ont.; and one sister, (Etta) Mrs.
Dan McNeil of Lynn, Mass.
