TOWER, Margaret Rose - 69, of Beckwith, Cumberland Co., passed away suddenly at her home on Thursday, December 11, 2008, with her husband by her side. Born in River Hebert, Cumberland. Co., she was a daughter of Helen A. (McGilchrist) Hamilton of River Hebert and the late William Hamilton. She was a long-time member of the Women's Missionary Society of Beckwith and Lake Killarney and for the last few years she was a volunteer canvasser for the Canadian Cancer Society. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and working in her flower garden. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as being devoted to her many friends. Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Charles E. Tower of Beckwith. Also surviving is a daughter, H. Marliese Kirby (John), Bridgetown, Annapolis Co.; sons, William R. Tower (Janet), Beckwith; Philip A. Tower of Oxford, Cumb. Co.; grandchildren, Trevor Tower (Michelle), Chris Tower, Sarah Tower, and Emily Kirby; great-granddaughter, Annabell Mattinson; sisters, Mary D. McClary (Ralph), River Hebert; Ann Dalby (Mike), Liverpool, Queens Co.; brothers, William Hamilton (Marybeth), Danbury, Conn.; James T. Hamilton (Laurell), Lower Cove, Cumberland Co.; half-brother, Harry McGilchrist (Fran), Ottawa, Ont.; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sherry Lynn Tower in infancy; sisters, Jean A. Harris and Laura M. Newey. Visitation will be held this evening with the funeral service on Tuesday, December 16 at 2 p.m., both in Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford with Rev. Gary MacDougall officiating.
