1958. South Oxford, Sept. 4 - Percy Ira MATHESON, a well-known
resident of South Oxford, passed away at his home on Friday, August 15,
at the age of 74 years. He is survived by his wife, formerly Ruth
McKIM of Pugwash Junction, two daughters, Ida ROODE, of the West Coast;
and Cora TURNER of Beamsville, Ont.; one daughter, Clara, predeceased
him 21 years ago. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and five
great grandchildren. The funeral service was held from Blacks Funeral
Home, Oxford, where the Rev. J.W. PORTER of the Baptist Church
conducted services and the choir sang favourite hymns of the
deceased: "Meet Me There", "Does Jesus Care", and by special
request, "Beyond the Sunset". The floral tributes were many and
beautiful. Interment was in Thompson Station Cemetery. The
pallbearers were Cecil WOOD, Bill HICHEY, Balcomb JOBB, Jim DUNCAN,
Aubrey WOOD, and Ralph EMBREE.
