OBITUARY: Mrs. David Newton
Bass River - Mrs. David Newton, 93, Little Bass River, died Tuesday at her
home. Born at Ingonish Beach, she was the former Bridget Randells, daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Randells. She is survived by five
daughters, Mary (Mrs. Cameron Gamble); Freda (Mrs. George Starratt); Etta
(Mrs. Ralph McLellan, all of Lower Bass River; Annie (Mrs. Austin
Pettigrew), Upper Economy; and Evelina (Mrs. Robert Priest), Economy; 35
grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her
husband, two sons and two daughters. The body is in the McCulloch and
Patriquin Funeral Home, Great Village. Funeral service will be held Friday
at 2 p.m. In Bass River United Church, Rev. Victor McLeod officiating.
Committal will be in the Emma Hunt Memorial Vault, Glenholme, with burial
later in the Economy Cemetery.

Bass River - Mrs. Ralph McLellan, 70, died Monday in Colchester Hospital,
Truro. Born in Pleasant Hills, Economy, she was the former Etta Newton., a
daughter of the late David and Bridget (Randall) Newton. Surviving besides
her husband, are four sons, Harold and Basil Boggs, both of Cranbrook, B.C.;
James Boggs, Vancouver; Randall, Bass River; two daughters, Marie (Mrs.
Roland MacBurnie), Bass River; Rosalie (Mrs. Donald Langille), Truro; two
foster daughters, Mrs. Ronald George, Folly Lake; Mrs. Raymond Frizzle,
Toronto; a foster son, Melvin McLellan, Bass River; four sisters, Mrs. Mary
Gamble, Toronto; Mrs. Freda Starritt, Lower Bass River; Mrs. Annie
Pettigrew, Upper Economy; and Mrs. Evelina Priest, Economy; 18
grandchildren, three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first
husband, Walter Boggs. The body is at the McCulloch Patriquin Funeral Home,
Great Village. Funeral service will be held 3:45 p.m. Thursday in Bass River
United Church, Rev. R.E. Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Bass River
Cemetery.
