Obit: PATTERSON, Mary Shannon
PATTERSON, Mary Shannon - Died peacefully with her nurse companion, Laurissa at her side on Sunday, December 7, 2008. Mary, in her 98th year, had been residing in Victoria Village Manor, Barrie, Ont. Born in Pugwash River, she was the second oldest child of the late Joseph and Louise Patterson. Mary is predeceased by sister, Rachael (Isaac's Harbor); Audrey (Malagash); Evelyn (Port Perry, Ont.); brother, Joseph, (Truro). She is survived by nieces, Florence, Karlene, Mary, and Louise, and by nephews, Wallace, John and George. Mary lived the majority of her life in Montreal where she taught at Mount Royal High and was a graduate of Acadia University. Her passion was teaching where she loved to open the minds of her students. During her retirement she lived in Truro, Halifax, Toronto and finally Barrie to be near her niece Mary Morrison. There will be a celebration of Mary's life in the spring of 2009 in Pugwash River. Mary will be missed by her family and the many friends she made at Victoria Village Manor where she was loved for her sweet disposition and her desire to share a kind word of encouragement to her fellow residents.
