Robert S Allen

Portsmouth - Robert S. Allen, 79, husband of Mary Jane (Fortier) Allen, of Portsmouth, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
He was born in Stoneham, Massachusetts, on November 18, 1929, the son of Kenneth and Cora Allen.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Robert was a self employed carpenter in the Seacoast area for many years and was a licensed pilot.
He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Portsmouth; Past Commander of the former Seacoast Memorial Post #8942, VFW in Rye and a member of Emerson Hovey Post #168, VFW in Portsmouth.
Besides his wife, survivors include two daughters, Raylene Vaillancourt and her husband Marc of Portsmouth and June Nevills of Denver, CO; a son, Kenneth Allen of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, Scott, Eric and Sarah Walker, Sean Nevills and Bobby Allen; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Wilna Bird of Amherst, Nova Scotia; several nieces and nephews.
Robert was a deeply devoted husband and family man. His deep devoted love for his wife, Mary Jane was evident in his eyes whenever he looked at her or spoke to others of her . He was inspirational to his family and he will be sadly missed by them all but will forever live on in their hearts.
Services: A memorial service will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at the Calvary Baptist Church, Ocean Rd, Portsmouth. There will be no visiting hours. Family flowers only. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will be in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.

Parents listed in the above obituary are his adopted parents. Birth name was Harold LeVon Wood s/o Homer LeVon and Ruby May (Allen) Wood. After his mother Ruby died on April 1, 1932 he was adopted by his mother's sister and her husband, Kenneth and Cora (Allen) Allen and his name was changed to Robert Stanley Allen.
