OBITUARY: George Smith Osborne
Following a lengthy illness, the death of George Smith Osborne, occurred at
his home, Queen St., Tuesday morning. Mr. Osborne was born at St. Martin's,
N.B. 73 years ago, coming to Parrsboro more than 40 years ago, and for years
was an employee of the Cumberland Railway and Coal Company, as a stevedore
at their coal pier. Besides his wife, the former Miss Mabel Allen of
Spencer's Island, there survives two sons, Max of New Jersey and Kenneth,
Saint John, N.B.; three daughters, Mrs. Waldo James of Three Rivers, Que.;
Mrs. Beatrice Burke, New Jersey; and Mrs. E.L. Kline of New Jersey; two
brothers, Crawford and William Osborne and a sister, Mrs. Samuel Merline,
all of St. Martin's, N.B. The funeral service was held at his home, on
Friday afternoon, with Rev. J.H. Markam, rector, Fox River, officiating. The
pallbearers were: J.H. Cutten, John Roberts, Stuart Dickie and Herbert
Manning. Interment was made in the Anglican Cemetery.
