George Edward Maufort 1922-2008 Sydney Mines We regret to announce
thedeath of George Maufort, 85, on Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at Harbour
ViewHospital in Sydney Mines. Born in Joggins, N.S., he was the son
of the lateJoseph and Bertha (Van deBerge) Maufort. He was a member
of the ArmedForces duringthe Second World War and an honorary member
of the FlorenceVolunteer Fire Department. He worked in the Princess
Colliery and washplant for 40 years. George was an avid fisherman and
hunter. He is survivedby his daughters, Peggy (David) Scott, Sydney
Mines, Marie (Jackie)Stubbert, Florence; and his son, George
(Marlene), Middle River; sevengrandchildren, David (Joanne) Scott,
Derek (Kerri) Scott, Michelle Stubbert(Ronnie), Jacqueline (Jody)
Carey, Jonathan Stubbert (Andrea), GinaStubbert and Steven Maufort;
and great-grandchildren, Nicole, Michael andJillian. He was
predeceased by his wife, Edna in 2005, sisters, Marguerite(Peg) and
Simone, stepsisters, Rose and Josephine. Visitation will be heldin
the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, today
(Tuesday), Jan. 15, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service
willtake place Wednesday, 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with
Norma Millsofficiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's
memory may be madeto Wilson United Church, or a charity of one's
