Re: OBIT - Leah (Spricer) LOWE, November 1950

Kathryn:

Leah Elizabeth Spicer's mother was Charlotte Lane "Lottie" Winter and would
be a 1st cousin to my father. Leah's sister, Dorothy Grace Spicer was in a
relationship with Charles Edward Collins of Maccan, N.S. as I don't believe
at this time they were legally married as Charles was previously married to
an Isobel "Bella" Vance from Chignecto, N.S. with issue of a son, Kenneth
Collins.

I have a marriage date of 24 Apr 1941 for Leah and Frank in the United
Church Manse, River Hebert, N.S. but no data to support it.

I also have for Leah Elizabeth Spicer a "relationship" with Capt. Nathan
Fenwick Tucker of Parrsboro, producing a daughter, Bona Lane Spicer who died
of whooping cough at age 11 months.

Note the name of the undertaker; Ivan ran a store and Esso gasoline pumps in
Port Greville. I suspect we're in the Great Depression of the Hungry 30's
here with many unable to afford the real undertaker so local friends pitched
in to help bury the dead. I've come across several of these "local"
undertakers in the course of checking the NSARM death records.
