Agnes (Rector) Rector; Mrs. Charles Edward Rector

List:

If anyone has a death date for John Wesley Rector of Parrsboro, I'll try to
locate his obit. Eric's obit. from Cape Breton has Rachel as Mrs. Frit
Carlesstrom, North Attleboro, Mass. while my copy has her as Mrs. S.
Colstrum, North Attleboro, Mass.

Frederick Rector, m/1 Hattie Margaret Brown, died in 1952 but the Parrsboro
Records are missing for that year at NSARM so that's no help.

I was only able to locate some of the later baptisms for this family in the
St. George's Anglican Church Records.

AGED PARRSBORO LADY SUCCUMBS TO BURNS

One of the most tragic accidents ever to visit Parrsboro occurred Sunday
evening when Mrs. Charles Rector, an 88 year old resident of this town was
burned to death at her home on Stanley Street. The accident occurred about 8
p.m. and the details could only be guessed. The aged lady, who was rarely
left alone by her sons, Charles and John, had been alone for a short time
when neighbors saw the flickering of a blaze in the home. Rushing over, they
found Mrs. Rector lying in a mass of flames, the lower part of her body
severely burned. Death followed almost instantly. Theories as to the origin
of the flames are many but the most likely one is that the old lady had
either been stirring up the stove and caught fire, or she had lit a match to
get a drink of water, and thus ignited her cloths. The deceased leaves to
mourn her sudden loss three daughters, Rachel, Mrs. Samuel Lily, of Gary,
Indiana; Mahala, Mrs. S. Calstrum, of North Attleboro, Mass.; and Mary, Mrs.
William Murphy, of Chester Basin, N.S. There were four sons, Fred, John and
Charles, all of Parrsboro; and George, of the U.S.A. The late Mrs. Rector
was the daughter of Reuben Rector and was born in South Brook. Her family
later moved to Amherst, then to Maccan for a period of seven years, and from
there to Parrsboro where she lived the remainder of her life. Of late years
she had made her home with her two sons, Charles and John. The funeral will
be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
