living relative. She has a lot of info on the Western Head. Mr. Newcomb

Uncle Tom left Cuba and went to Bangor, Maine to see his sister Inez Dwyer

ore going back to Parrsboro. For years, my grandmother spoke of that visit

they had heard that all were lost. My mother was only 10 but remembers his
visit and how sunburned and thin Uncle Tom was. The story was told again
at
his funeral a few years ago and he received a citation from the Canadian
government for his efforts in keeping the injured alive while awaiting
rescue.
